At Lisgar Park Dental on Queen Street West, we provide urgent and essential dental care for refugee claimants, resettled refugees and other patients covered by the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). We check your coverage before treatment and explain your share of the cost, so you know exactly what to expect.
The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) is a Government of Canada initiative that offers temporary health and dental benefits for:
Refugee claimants
Resettled refugees
Protected persons
Certain immigration detainees
Our clinic accepts IFHP. Since May 1, 2026, IFHP pays 70% of the cost of eligible dental services and you pay the remaining 30% at your visit. Coverage is subject to IFHP rules, limits and, for some treatments, prior approval.

IFHP typically covers emergency and essential dental procedures such as extractions, X-rays, dental exams, denture repairs, temporary fillings, and infection control. Routine cleanings, cosmetic procedures, and orthodontics are usually not included.

Bring your IFHP eligibility document, UCI number, or any refugee claim paperwork. If you don’t have these documents, contact us and we’ll help you determine what is needed.
Yes. We aim to accommodate urgent IFHP cases on the same day, especially if you are in pain or dealing with infection.
No. Preventive or cosmetic services like cleanings, whitening, veneers, and orthodontics are not covered by IFHP.
